Creating Your Waterfall

Ember Attack Protection for your home

Creating Your Waterfall Effect

Flood Your Gutters and Create a Protective Waterfall Effect

It's a simple process to install your EmberAttack kit and this is why it's such a powerful defense during ember attack. During peak fire periods and when water supply is available, the cascading 'waterfall' around your home's perimeter provides maximum protection. The Watergate valve blocks your downpipes in seconds, flooding your gutters until they overflow. This creates a continuous water curtain that extinguishes embers before they can ignite your eaves, one of the most vulnerable points bushfires typically take hold. Use this mode whenever you have access to water supply for the most comprehensive ember protection.

Installation

To install EmberAttack cut a 100mm section into your down pipe to install EmberAttack with the Watergate valve at a manageable height approximately 1200mm off the ground.

Please note please positioning the connectors above the Watergate Valve

Once EmberAttack is installed into the downpipes make sure all joins are water proof using suitable pipe adhesives and silicone adhesives.

To create the Waterfall effect which back fills your gutters:-

  1. Remove one of the caps and install a snap on hose connector.
  2. Plug on the hose to the just installed connector.
  3. Insert the Watergate valve, pushing right into the slide and across the pipe cutting the water or stopping it from flowing through the pipe.
  4. Turn the tap on and allow the water to flow up the gutters to fill them. Once full the gutters will overflow creating a waterfall effect wetting the area around your home protecting the gutters and the area around your home from embers. At this point you can choose to leave the tap on or switch off to conserve water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you Located?

We live next to the bush in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and our warehouse and dispatch is from Belrose.

EmberAttack Sprinkler System

EmberAttack Sprinkler System uses easy to install PVC 19-20mm hose and sprinkler spray heads connected to a high pressure 12v water pump connected to a 12v battery.

My roof is complicated and has hidden areas

All roofs are segmented where the water when it rains drains to one point. This is our collection point for EmberAttack. From here we install the ridge sprinklers and then build on the system by running additional lines with sprayers to those hidden areas where embers can collect.

Can Ember Attack be used as a First Flush?

Yes EmberAttack can be used as a First Flush where the Watergate Valve is left in place for the first 5 minutes of rain with the side drain plugs removed allowing the dirty roof water to drain away before the Watergate Valve is removed for clean water to enter the tanks.

What is an Ember Attack?

Ember attack is the most common way houses catch fire during bushfires, occurring when wind carries burning debris (embers, twigs, leaves, bark) far ahead of the main fire, lodging in gaps, gutters, or on flammable materials around a home to ignite it, often before the fire front even arrives. These burning fragments can travel kilometres, creating new spot fires and overwhelming properties with multiple ignition points, making defense crucial.

How Ember Attack Works

  • Transport: Strong winds loft embers, sometimes kilometers away, in front of the fire.
  • Accumulation: Embers collect in vulnerable spots like roof gutters, under eaves, around windows, under doors, and in dry leaf litter.
  • Ignition: Once a cluster of embers smolders, the heat builds until flames erupt, igniting the building or surrounding fuel.
  • Entry: They can enter through small gaps, uncovered vents, or break windows, leading to internal fires.
  •

Why It's Dangerous

  • Early & Late Threat: Embers can strike hours before the main fire and persist long after.
  • Unpredictable: They can start fires many streets away from the main blaze.
  • Silent Assault: It's a hidden danger, often more destructive than the main flames.
  •

Protection Measures

  • Install EmberAttack: The EmberAttack sprinkler system helps protect the whole roof and be tailored to suit those difficult areas where embers can collect.
  • Clear Debris: Keep gutters, decks, and yards free of leaves and flammable materials.
  • Seal Gaps: Cover vents and seal gaps around windows, doors, and rooflines.
  • Protect Vulnerabilities: Install ember guards on vents and use metal gutter guards
